Background:
Vietnam’s Sun Group has signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Chinese design and construction firm Gold Mantis to support major national infrastructure and hospitality projects, including developments linked to the APEC 2027 Conference in Phu Quoc.
The memorandum of understanding, signed during a high-level Vietnamese delegation’s working visit to China in the second week of April, covers cooperation for the 2026–2031 period. The partnership will focus on interior design, architectural decoration, construction, and the use of advanced building technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Under the agreement, Gold Mantis will act as a strategic partner in delivering interior decoration works for Sun Group’s APEC-related project complex in Phu Quoc, including airport facilities and other key infrastructure. These projects form part of Vietnam’s preparations for hosting the APEC 2027 summit.
Sun Group said the partnership supports its goal of accelerating delivery timelines while improving design quality and construction standards across strategic developments. Gold Mantis will contribute expertise in environmentally friendly interior design and large-scale project execution, particularly in sectors such as airports, luxury hotels, theatres, and convention centers.
Sun Group Chairman Dang Minh Truong said the partnership reflects a shared vision to create sustainable landmark projects with long-term architectural value. He added that working with a global partner will help Vietnamese construction teams adopt modern technologies and strengthen their position in the international value chain.
The agreement also marks a broader step in Vietnam-China cooperation in construction and technology, while reinforcing Sun Group’s strategy of partnering with international firms for major projects. The developer has already engaged global partners for airport operations and entertainment services tied to its Phu Quoc developments.
