Background:
In Silicon Valley, a couple built a home that mixes modern technology with a calm, peaceful style. One likes gadgets, and the other prefers quiet and harmony. The Wiseman Group designed a house that fits both lifestyles perfectly.
Paul Vincent Wiseman, founder of the San Francisco design firm, says the goal was to combine comfort with technology. Mauricio Munoz, the firm’s design director, adds that the home was also planned to be perfect for hosting friends and family.
The entrance sets the tone for the house. A specially designed front door follows the homeowner’s interest in feng shui, and the foyer features layered mirrors that reflect and reveal light in a modern style. Geometric patterns inspired by shattered glass appear throughout the home, giving it a consistent look.
Natural materials give the home warmth and character. Limestone from Spain and oak wood are combined with detailed brickwork and marble accents. Munoz says the aim was to make the house feel lived-in and inviting rather than cold or minimal.
The bedrooms reflect the personalities of the owners. Her room is peaceful and nature-inspired, with 3-D metal leaves and gentle crystal lighting. His room features LED-lit walls and flexible lighting that can change the mood. The house also includes a private theater, spa, wine room, and spaces for entertaining, including a garage designed for gatherings.
A striking spiral staircase made of solid steel and hand-wrapped in leather was carefully installed before the roof went on. In the wine room, rose-colored mirrors above curved oak shelves create a unique visual effect, inspired by the firm’s work with the late Frank Gehry.
From the outside, the home looks modest, but inside it opens up to a private courtyard and pool area. Wiseman says every detail was carefully planned, so the longer you spend in the house, the more you notice.
For the owners, the result is a home that balances technology and comfort, creating a beautiful and inviting space where they love to spend time.
