Key Background:

Paris Design Week 2025 will showcase a collaboration between Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta and Italian furniture brand Citterio. The two have developed a new modular furniture line dubbed Borealis, with clean lines, useful design, and a modern look.

The collection will be on display from 4 to 13 September at the UniFor showroom in Paris. The collection features chairs, sofas for two or three people, benches, and small tables. A visible oak frame, offered in natural and dark finishes, forms the base of each piece and supports soft, upholstered seating. This mix of strong structure and comfortable cushions gives the furniture a balanced and inviting look.

Borealis takes inspiration from the Nordic scenery and follows a simple Scandinavian design style. All items are designed in the form of a square to maintain uniformity in the design, but the wooden frame and soft upholstery produce a useful but fashionable touch.

Marius Myking, Snøhetta’s Director of Product Design, said, “With Borealis, we wanted to create furniture that lasts and adapts. It offers calm and clarity, while making everyday moments more enjoyable. When we worked with Citterio, we were concerned with designs that contribute to the surroundings rather than creating too much contrast.

The modular system fits perfectly into the modern living space, where the user can organize seats and tables to his or her liking. It is flexible to be used in a home, office, or a common area.

By combining precise architectural design with simple Scandinavian style, Snøhetta and Citterio have developed a collection that is both timeless and functional. As Paris Design Week 2025 begins, Borealis is expected to draw attention from design lovers and industry experts looking for versatile and elegant furniture solutions.
