Background

Samsung Electronics has announced that its One UI platform will now extend to smart home appliances, giving users the same software experience across phones, TVs, and connected devices at home.

The Wi-Fi appliances released in 2024 will be updated with software for up to seven years, starting in September 2025. The company believes that this will enhance security, introduce new features, and make the appliances valuable as time goes by.

We are transforming how families experience technology at home with the introduction of One UI to smart appliances, said Jeong Seung Moon, the Executive VP of Samsung Electronics.

The upgrade will bring smarter kitchens and easier day-to-day living to households. Refrigerators will now have the capability to identify more food items, suggest recipes, and respond to better Bixby voice requests through artificial intelligence. Voice ID allows the home appliances to provide individualized answers to each family member, including schedules, reminders, or meal suggestions.

Samsung also plans to add Knox Matrix, its multi-device security system, to appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. The system allows connected devices to check each other’s safety status, while screen-equipped models will feature a security dashboard for real-time monitoring.

The new One UI will offer a more convenient navigation and location-based settings that can help families with their work and time management.

With these upgrades, Samsung is turning its appliances into the hub of smart homes, where they can provide their users with not only convenience but also a stable and reliable digital world.
