Background:
Interior design firm Pierce & Ward has unveiled a new studio in Los Angeles that blends residential comfort with a functional workspace, offering a fresh take on the work-from-home concept.
Founders Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward moved into the Frogtown-based property after outgrowing several earlier setups, including a guesthouse and a rental space. Looking for a long-term solution, the duo bought a building that could fit their growing team and match their design style. Located in Los Angeles’ Elysian Valley, the space needed only small changes and gave them plenty of freedom to design it their way.
The studio feels more like a home than an office, with a warm and welcoming look instead of a typical corporate setup. From the moment visitors enter, bold design choices are visible. A foyer featuring cheetah-print walls, vintage décor, and curated artwork sets the tone. The designers used personal items, warehouse pieces, and custom furniture to create stylish spaces.
The layout includes a living room, kitchenette, open workroom, and even a bedroom for visiting staff. The living area features leopard-print walls, vintage furnishings, and items from the firm’s own collection, along with pieces developed in collaboration with West Elm.
In the main workroom, lavender-painted floors and a large patterned rug create a bright and creative environment. The studio features carefully chosen furniture and artwork. Some pieces were first bought for clients, but the designers decided to keep them because they loved how they looked in the space. A private office and flexible spaces help the team with daily work and design tasks.
The studio is also practical. It has a bedroom where team members from New York can stay, making it feel more like a home than an office.
Pierce & Ward, known for designing homes for celebrities like Dakota Johnson and Emma Roberts, add a personal touch to their work. Their new studio shows a growing trend of workspaces that focus on comfort, style, and function.
