Furniture retailer Loom Loft has teamed up with renowned interior stylist Siobhan Murphy for a standout renovation project at the historic Salterhebble Lock Keeper’s Cottage in Halifax. Known for her vibrant and maximalist aesthetic, Murphy is taking a fresh creative turn by embracing a softer, nature-led approach for this characterful property.

The Grade II listed cottage beside the peaceful Salterhebble Basin is now being fully renovated ahead of its launch as a thoughtfully designed Airbnb retreat. With its timber windows, classic architecture and rich history, the two-bedroom home provides the perfect setting for a makeover that mixes its heritage charm with modern comfort.

Murphy said the project has allowed her to explore a more refined and organic palette, while still incorporating her signature attention to texture and detail. “This has been a beautiful opportunity to work with natural tones and materials that reflect the cottage’s surroundings,” she said. “Loom Loft’s collection offered the perfect mix of craftsmanship and warmth to enhance the property’s story.”

For the renovation, Murphy has selected a range of Loom Loft furniture and accessories chosen for their quality, softness and ability to elevate a calm, nature-inspired scheme. The finished look aims to create an inviting, soulful space that feels deeply connected to the landscape.

Tracy Leeming, head of marketing at Loom Loft, said the partnership reflects the retailer’s passion for thoughtful, characterful design. “We’re incredibly proud to work with Siobhan on such a unique project,” she said. “Her ability to respect a building’s heritage while crafting a stylish, modern interior is inspiring. We’re excited to see our pieces become part of a calm and beautifully balanced space.”

The redesign aims to blend the cottage’s historic character with a fresh, modern feel, using soft colours, natural textures and thoughtful styling throughout. The project will be fully revealed in December, with updates to be shared on Loom Loft’s channels.
