A 1930s Dutch townhouse in South Holland has been turned into a bright, family-friendly home. Designer Roelfien Vos used bold colors, patterns, and a layout perfect for entertaining.

The homeowners first wanted just a color and wallpaper update, but they agreed to Vos’s plan to improve the floor layout for better flow and use. The result is an open, welcoming ground floor, ideal for hosting gatherings or enjoying family time.

Vos says the project started with a focus on wallpaper and color, which guided the whole design. A hand-painted green wallpaper from de Gournay inspired the living area’s design, setting the tone for the vibrant interiors throughout the home.

The home shows careful attention to detail in its floors and furnishings. The kitchen floor combines timber and marble, while the hallway has green marble and sand-colored stone. In the living area, a backlit onyx cabinet, a comfy armchair, and a floral carpet create a standout feature. The ceilings were also updated with decorative plaster, giving the room a gentle, stylish flow.

Vos says that every element was thoughtfully designed: “Wherever you look, every element is a small, unique design.” Her approach has created a home that feels lively and welcoming year-round, blending color, pattern, and smart layout.

The house was photographed by Willemijn and Thijs de Leeuw, a married couple known for their interior photography. Their photos show the bold colors and details that make this Dutch townhouse a great example of modern home design.
